15-year old double bassist Joshua Thrush performs the first movement of Hans Fryba’s Suite in the Olden Style. Born with a form of spina bifida, Joshua feels it’s important to recognize that physical disability doesn’t necessarily impede musical ability and supports inclusion in all aspects of music. In fact, being unable to do some activities actually led Joshua to focus on music, and with amazing results!
This Daily Joy performance is part of From the Top’s Musicians with Disabilities Special Initiative. Throughout the month of March 2023, From the Top is spotlighting young disabled and/or neurodivergent musicians who will share their talents and tell their stories in their own words.
