Wilson Liu (piano), 11, lives in Livingston, New Jersey where he attends Hillside Elementary School.
At the age of 7, he was admitted to The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, where he received the Bachauer Prize with a full scholarship and won the Concerto Competition. He currently studies with Hung-Kuan Chen and Tema Blackstone.
Wilson was nominated into the Artemisia Foundation, where he worked with distinguished pedagogues such as Jerome Lowenthal, Veda Kaplinsky, Misha Voskressenski, and collaborated with opera star Leah Hawkins.
At age 9, Wilson was featured on PBS’s Great Performances: Now Hear This. He was also invited to perform at Juilliard’s most prestigious annual scholarship benefit, where he received high acclaim.
Since beginning his piano studies, Wilson has earned top prizes in numerous prestigious national and international competitions. Most notably, at the 2025 Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition, he was awarded the Junior Alexei Sultanov Prize, a special honor created especially for him, in addition to the Best Mazurka Prize and the Commissioned Work Prize. He has also been recognized at competitions including the 2024 Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition, among many others.
As the youngest contestant, Wilson won both the International Young Artist Concerto Competition in Chicago and the Young Artist Concerto Competition in Vancouver, leading to performances with Seen Worldwide, the NPO, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA.
Wilson deeply loves music and cherishes every opportunity to share it with others. He finds great joy in both performing and learning alongside fellow musicians, and values the meaningful connections that music can create.
