We met pianists Alexander Suh and Jialin Tso of the Supernova Piano Duo when they were high school students. The pair have been lucky to continue their musical partnership in college at the University of Virginia. This performance of Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Major, Op. 102, Mvt I was recorded during their end-of-semester recital.

The Supernova Piano Duo is comprised of Alexander Suh, 16, from Fairfax, Virginia and Jialin Tso, 18, from Chantilly, Virginia. Alexander and Jialin are both students at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. They are coached by and study with Lisa Emenheiser Sarratt. Supernova was the national first place winners of the 2019 Music Teachers National Association Senior Piano Duet Competition. Outside of music, Jialin enjoys computer science, art, and math and Alexander likes computer science, physics, mathematics, and electronics.
