Ella Kim (piano), 17, is from Northern Virginia and currently studies with Professor HieYon Choi and Yang Gao of Peabody Conservatory. Ella has won top prizes in competitions including the Nashville Symphony Orchestra Curb Concerto Competition, David Dubois International Piano Competition, the AAMS International Music Competition, and the Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition. Ella appeared on NPR’s From the Top shows 373 and 384 and their Facebook live concert series. In 2023, she was invited to perform for WETA Classical’s Annual Leadership Circle event at the Embassy of Sweden and, more recently, at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the U.S.-Korea Alliance. Fueled by her passion for connecting with others through music, Ella and her sister co-founded a non-profit called ITZArt4you, which enables teen musicians to harness their musical talents by providing free, weekly music lessons to children in their community.

Ella Kim (piano), 12, lives in Herndon, Virginia, where she is in sixth grade at Navy Elementary School. She first appeared on From the Top last summer as part of an eight-handed piano ensemble in San Marcos, Texas. Ella studies piano with Dr. Wen-Yin Chan at the Levine School of Music. Her proudest musical achievement has been performing at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, after winning first place in the International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. Outside of music, Ella enjoys tae kwon do, art, and swimming.
