For today’s Daily Joy, 15-year-old pianist Lindsey Yang plays a Prelude & Fugue by Shostakovich that reminds her of the feeling at a carnival.

Lindsey Yang (piano), 15, is from Arcadia, California and attends ninth grade through the iLEAD Exploration homeschool program. She studies piano with Fabio Bidini and HyeJin Kim at the Colburn Community School. Among her many musical experiences and accomplishments, Lindsey has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and performed piano concertos at a music festival in in Perugia, Italy. Outside of piano, Lindsey enjoys painting, reading, swimming, rollerblading, dancing, and acoustic guitar.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
