Danielle Yoon (cello), 16, hails from Frisco, Texas, and studies cello with Ko Iwasaki. Danielle has won first prize in competitions such as MTNA Texas Senior Strings, Juanita Miller Concerto Competition, and GDYO Philharmonic Concerto Competition. She has also been awarded in competitions such as National Symphony Orchestra SMI Solo Competition and Collin County Young Artists Competition, and she was named a finalist in the Lynn Harrell Young Artist Competition. Danielle was a 2022 YoungArts Honorable Mention winner as well as a 2022 Texas Young Master, one of 15 students chosen from various artistic disciplines across the state by the Texas Commission on the Arts and Texas Cultural Trust. This past summer, Danielle was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and performed at Carnegie Hall and around Europe. Danielle has participated in many musical programs and festivals such as the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Indiana University Summer String Institute, HeifetzPEG, and Stringwood Chamber Music Festival, where she learned from distinguished artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Zlatomir Fung, Bion Tsang, Amir Eldan, Jean-Michel Fonteneau, and Taeguk Mun, among others. Danielle also serves as principal of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra and is co-president of Chamber Music International’s program, Chamber Music International Youth Ambassadors. Outside of music, Danielle loves to write and to participate in Model United Nations. She also enjoys going out to eat and doing karaoke with her friends.
