Florence Price Piano Sonata

Florence Price composed her Piano Sonata in E minor in 1932, one year before the Chicago Symphony Orchestra premiered her first symphony, making Price the first African-American woman composer to have her work performed by a major orchestra.

Co-host/alum Michelle Cann performs the second movement from the Piano Sonata during a From the Top recording at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
