Here is a moving piece by guitarist and FTT alum Thatcher Harrison called “Song for a Lost Love.”
Dartmouth, MA Thatcher performed his own composition, Iris at Sunrise, on Show 376 in Boston on October 6, 2019.
Thatcher Harrison (guitar), 18, hails from Dartmouth, Massachusetts and is a freshman at New England Conservatory, studying with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe. Thatcher’s proudest musical accomplishments include: winning First Prize at the 2019 Domaine Forget Guitar Competition (17-and-under division) in Saint-Irénée, Quebec, Canada; winning an Honorable Mention award as a classical guitarist in the Classical Music category of the 2019 National YoungArts Foundation Competition; and completing his first commission as a composer for the DNT Guitar Trio. In his spare time, Thatcher loves playing and watching baseball, taking long walks, watching cooking shows, reading Calvin and Hobbes, and spending time with family.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
