17-year-old countertenor Sam Higgins gives an incredible performance of “Dove sei, amato bene?” from Rodelinda, regina de’ Longobardi, HWV 19 by George Frideric Handel with Greg Anderson on piano.
Sam performed on Show 385 in Fairfax, Virginia on February 29, 2020.
Sam Higgins (countertenor), 17, is a junior at Milton High School in his hometown of Milton, Massachusetts. His voice teachers include Corey Hart, Ellie Jarrett Shattles, Kerry Deal, and Eiji Miura. Sam is the winner of the 2020 Classical Singer Competition, Classical High School division. Sam has won recognition from numerous vocal competitions including the 2019 Metropolitan Opera Guild High School Opera Singers Intensive, the 2018 Young Artists Competition of the Boston Pops, the 2019 Schmidt Competition, and the 2019 Classical Singer Online Summer Competition. He has also performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops in Symphony Hall and with the New England Philharmonic. He was named a 2019 YoungArts Winner. In his spare time, Sam enjoys cooking and creative writing.
Greg Anderson appeared on From the Top Show 21 when he was 18 years old. Today, he is one half of the sensational piano duo – Anderson & Roe – with collaborative partner Elizabeth Joy Roe. They guest-hosted From the Top episodes 384 and 385 recorded at the Center for the Performing Arts at George Mason University on February 29, 2020 in Fairfax, Virginia.
