Although the clarinet wasn’t around when Telemann wrote his Fantasias for Solo Flute in 1732 , we think he would have enjoyed this clarinet transcription of Fantasia No. 1 in A Major by Alice McDonald.

Alice McDonald (clarinet), 16, hails from Great Barrington, Massachusetts where she is a junior at Monument Mountain Regional High School. She studies clarinet at The Juilliard School Pre-College Division with Alan Kay. She has attended Boston University Tanglewood Institute and participated in the Massachusetts All-State Orchestra. She credits performances with BUTI Young Artist’s Orchestra and Mass All-State Orchestra as her most memorable musical experiences. In addition to music, Alice enjoys classical and modern dance, writing poetry, and ornithology.
