What could be more joyful than a beautiful piece of music entitled “Sunburst”?
For today’s Daily Joy, 12-year-old guitarist Preston Hong is brightening our day with his uplifting performance of “Sunburst” by Andrew York.
Los Altos, California Preston performed on Show 391, broadcasting the week of November 9, 2020.
Preston Hong (guitar), 11, from Los Altos, California, is a sixth grader at Cupertino Middle School. He studies guitar at the California Conservatory of Music with Christopher Mallett. Some of Preston’s proudest accomplishments have been placing in the United States International Music Competition and winning the Kenny Hill Guitar Award prize at the University of Rhode Island Guitar Festival. When he isn’t concentrating on music, Preston enjoys participating in Boy Scouts, playing video games and basketball, and reading.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
